Why should I invest in a comprehensive approach to health and wellness?
Can you afford not to? Creating a culture of health and well-being is an investment in your employees and your organization. Statistics show that a healthier workforce equates to more continuity, less training allocation, fewer on-the-job injuries, and fewer workers’ compensation claims. (Baicker, K., Cutler, D., and Song, Z. [2010]. Workplace Wellness Programs Can Generate Savings. Health Affairs, 29 [2], 304–311.)
Building a culture of health and wellness begins with asking some philosophical questions about your company, which will guide you in developing your wellness program.
Coaches' Takeaway
A CDHP creates price transparency and the incentive for consumers to learn more so that they can make more informed decisions. However, a CDHP will not work long-term unless the employer commits to building a culture of health and wellness to teach their employees how to become better healthcare consumers.
