How does the IRS set criteria for what is considered preventive care?
In order for an HDHP to offer preventive care, the IRS has defined criteria for what services are considered preventive care. The IRS has stated what a plan may/may not pay for without compromising the plan’s tax status.

A good place to start would be to print the IRS eligible medical expenses publication 502 and strictly follow your plan guidelines. Preventive care may start as such, but then you may need additional services. As a good reminder, check your plan for details.
