The chart below is meant to help you understand the process steps that occur when using a health spending account to pay for services.  When you have a healthcare event you will show your doctor your ID card and have them submit your claim to the insurance company.  The claim will then be processed and an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) will be sent to you.  At (or around) the same time you will receive a bill from the provider which should match the EOB. You can use that EOB as a guide to pay any patient responsibility amounts from your health spending account.
