You need to know that when you visit the doctor on a CDHP there are some differences from traditional plans. For instance, with CDHPs, there are no co-pays, as all of your services are subject to the annual deductible. When the doctor’s office asks you for a co-pay because that is what they are trained to do, you can comfortably say, “I don’t have a co-pay and will pay you for today’s services once you submit my bill to the insurance company and I receive an Explanation of Benefits form (EOB) letting me know how much I owe.” The Doctor’s office section will help you prepare for these kinds of conversations and help you build your healthcare confidence.
