What you need to know

Why should my company consider a CDHP?

Whether your company believes that providing health insurance for your employees is a competitive requirement or simply a moral obligation, you know that it is becoming cost prohibitive. Healthcare costs are growing at two to three times the rate of inflation. Most companies can no longer afford to make purchasing decisions about the company health plan without engaging the employees. It’s time for employers to ask employees to get engaged, change their behaviors, and become more aware of their lifestyle choices and how they use and pay for healthcare services.

Employees must understand that they are consumers and that, as consumers they have choices. Employers need to provide their employees with valuable information and the incentives to make long-lasting changes.

By offering your employees choices and empowering them to make informed, responsible, and cost-conscious decisions about their lifestyle choices and their healthcare spending, you will create a healthier, stronger workforce. You wil also be saving your company and your employees a lot of money.

Coaches' Takeaway

CDHPs fundamentally change the culture of organizations by embracing the principles of consumerism, health, and wellness.  They help companies lower the cost of healthcare and improve the health and well-being of their employees and their families. A CDHP is a business strategy for the 2nd-largest expense after payroll.
