What is an EOB?

Explanation of benefits (EOB):  An EOB is a statement from your insurance company that lists your date of service, the type of services you received, the retail amount charged by your doctor, and the negotiated amount you or your insurer are responsible for depending on whether or not you’ve met your annual deductible. Pay for your medical services after you receive your EOB—you are paying the total amount listed on your EOB, not your doctor’s bill, and there may be significant differences between the two.
