What is a Consumer Driven Health Plan (CDHP)?

A CDHP is a comprehensive health insurance plan that combines a lower-premium, high-deductible health plan (HDHP) with a tax-preferred healthcare account.  The money contributed to a healthcare account, combined with out-of-pocket expenses paid by employees, covers healthcare spending up to the amount of the annual deductible.

A CDHP solution is highly effective at controlling cost and improving overall health and well-being because of its philosophy, which is governed by three principles:  transparency, responsibility, and opportunity.
